Ficus lyrata

Ficus lyrata

#1 THE FIDDLE LEAF FIG:

March 21, 2017

The Fiddle leaf fig (Ficus Lyrata) is a tropical plant that originated in Africa and is very well suited for the Indian subcontinent. What is beautiful about the plant is its rather unique silhouette, when most plants are bushy, or 'big', this Ficus is a lanky plant that can still have immense presence in a room owing to its size.

This lanky lush plant almost feels like you’ve gotten the tree into your home. It's a perfect corner pot, but considering how varied its heights can be, it can sometimes rather comfortable take the center-stage as well.
It's a semi shade plant, and so you need to find enough light, not too much. Its super easy to maintain, and it needs watering about twice a week, Just to make sure the top soil surface is not dry.

It makes the perfect corner plant, cause of its narrow spindly trunk that opens into an umbrella of green. Also love the subtle texture of exposed brick as the backdrop to the plant.

This is a great example of a context where the plants and the activity becomes the hero. Also notice the way the light filters into the space bouncing off the leaves adding so much charm.

of course we love white, if it hasn't already been established, and wood and green leaves, but occasionally metallic accents is something our heart goes  out to.

beautifully finished furniture + bare walls + simple floor + sheers and the fiddle leaf = perfectio.

this ficus is the best way to bring the garden into your house, its almost a tree and is lush green at it, if we let it grow tall.
